About the event

Functional Anatomy for Yoga Asanas

The programme is based on a solid understanding of Anatomy in asana yoga practice. Including knowledge of functional anatomy and anatomy of movements, pranayama, meditation through the arts of the 8 limbs of Patanjali yoga sutra.

Our thought

As a yoga teacher, I have few members who come into the class with an idea of wanting to improve their physical and metal health. On the physical aspect, there are few practitioners that just practice yoga to straighten the muscularity and increase flexibility. Also there are few that use the movement of yoga’s asanas to heal post injury. There are several occasions that members ask if yoga could help their health issues. Or, some students are less physically able to carry what lesson plans was expected.

As a Senior Yoga Teacher, I understand that the traditionally yoga anatomy explained in the Charkra systems in which made it hard to understand to the NHS physician. Therefore, with a discussion with Sonia, we agreed that Functional Anatomy for Yoga Asanas could helped clarify what yoga’s asanas could do.
