SAMSARA HALAHALA - Master of Practice with Ace
is a once a month semi-workshop on
every 4th Saturday 1.30-3.00pm.
I was lucky that when I first practiced yoga in 2003, I had so much time practicing and I could do 2-3 sessions in the same day. I was lucky that I had the chance to practice various styles of yoga at the yoga studio in Bangkok. I also was lucky that in 2009 I took a 260 hour Master of Practice with Adrian Cox of Yoga Elements Thailand before joining the Yoga Teacher Training later in the same year. The 260 hour Master of Practice underpinned my practice foundation.
I believe that rather than just everyday practicing and waiting for the yoga teacher to guide you to self-awareness or waiting for your turn for your yoga teachers to do a physical adjustment, yoga students should be able to take matters into their own hands.
Samsara Halahala - Master of Practice
is a once a month semi-workshop at every 4th Saturday 1.30-3.00pm.
The 90 minute semi-workshop will be based on the 8 limbs of Patanjali Yoga Sutras Philosophy with a Vinyasa Flow in the Asanas Practice.
The 8 Limbs of Patanjali Yoga Sutras Philosophy are;
-
Yama - deals with one’s ethical standards and sense of integrity, focusing on our behaviour and how we conduct ourselves in life.
-
Niyama - has to do with self-discipline and spiritual observances.
-
Asanas - the postures practiced in yoga. In the yogic view, the body is a temple of spirit, the care of which is an important stage of our spiritual growth. Through the practice of asanas, we develop the habit of discipline and the ability to concentrate, both of which are necessary for meditation.
-
Pranayama - Generally translated as “breath control,” this fourth stage consists of techniques designed to gain mastery over the respiratory process while recognising the connection between the breath, the mind, and the emotions.
-
Prtyahara, Dharana, and Dhyana the 5th, 6th, and 7th limbs are the preparation and transition into the last limb.
-
Samadhi - At this stage, the meditator merges with his or her point of focus and transcends the Self altogether.
The 90 minute semi-workshop will combine one, two or more of the limbs in each different week and sometimes will include some basic anatomy and different knowledge to help the learner understand the practice and have a better result.
The cost of each 90 minute session is £15 per person with only 10 learners maximum in each session. The semi-workshops will be carried on in a loop. Learners can repeat a session in the loop and may find different aspects in learning at the repeated time.
